What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is health condition in which there is a loss of normal bone density, resulting in fragile bones. Bones that are affected by osteoporosis can break with just a minor injury. Osteoporosis-related broken bones and fractures can occur in almost any bone of the body.

Osteoporosis Warning Signs on the Hands
I have found there to be 2 common osteoporosis indicators on the hands. Although not all people with loss of bone density will show these signs, anyone with both indicators should consult with their medical professional.
- White vertical lines appear on one or more of the fingernails, and the nails begin to split along the white lines. (Vertical white lines on the nails are commonly associated with a shortage of calcium within the body.)
- Brittle fingernails: The fingernails become somewhat brittle, and their color turns to a pale white.
